sometimes it's hard to know if our own experience of jws was typical and what features were peculiar to our own area or the individual jws we knew personally.
i was wondering if others experienced this among jws:.
a few times on the ministry, when we were working wealthy areas with large houses, some brothers and sisters would make the comment that they look forward to taking ownership of one of these big houses after armageddon, when the worldly people have vacated them.
Yes, comments like this were made on a regular basis 20-30 years ago, absolutely. We live in a pretty wealthy area, so there's a lot of opportunities for this sort of nastiness.
However, I don't remember anyone making these sorts of comments in say, the past 15 years or so. . . . Interesting now that I think about it.
because i simply decided the watchtower corporation wasn't the truth(tm) i was da'd in a secret jc that i didn't attend.
i was writing songs with a friend that day instead.. jws wasted no time in labelling me as an evil villain.
the rumours abounded.. i was labelled as 'a false prophet'.
Geez PUNKOFNICE, I'm shocked they haven't accused you of being a vampire too. . . .
They have such active imaginations. You need this to believe in invisible kingdoms and such.

I applaud the woman in the gallery who yelled "you sleaze!"
i just tried to go to the site and there is a goodbye message.
i was a member there since 2010. i was really surprised.
i had just started posting there again after being away for a while.
Even though I'm not a JWR refugee, I was on JWR as well under the name TIMEQUAKE (another Vonnegut novel). In the beginning I posted a little, but in the past year or so I was just popping over sporadically, taking a look, and giving a "thanks" every now and then.
The reason I signed up there a few years back was just for a change of pace.
JWN (or JWC) is a lot like New York City: fast-paced, lots of amazing stuff too look at in every direction, lots of really great, diverse people (as well as a few weirdos talking to themselves). There's also the occasional sidewalk scuffle; but like in NY, I usually just cross to the other side of the street.
JWR was a little more like Club Med: a much slower, relaxed vibe, cool people, and amazing frozen Margaritas I think that up until (but certainly not including) the End they really created a great place for "recovery."
Anyway, welcome everybody! I think it'll be great to have you guys in the mix.
Best,
BOC
i just came over from jwr.
a little background: my mom converted to the witnesses when i was five.
i was baptized at 14, was mentally out by 18, and successfully faded by the time i was 25. mom and both my younger sisters and their families are still in.
Hey WAYWARD! Welcome!
hey y'all.
i just wanted to officially make my debut on https://www.jehovahs-witness.com and introduce myself.
i'm an old jwrer, and it looks like i'll be dropping in on here now for cult updates and friendly conversation.. a little about myself:.
Welcome MARLBOROBARBIE!
thought i'd introduce myself, give a little of a background story.
i've been a short 3 month member of jwr, so now i'll try to visit you guys instead.. i'm in my mid twenties today, live in sweden.
grew up in a family with an active jehovahmom and inactive dad.
Welcome RUSHOLME!
this month the last segment is about evolution.
one is with a sister with a university education in biochemistry who (presumably) teaches at a highschool or public school.
she says that left handedness of amino acids indicates life was created because "if it was a random process half would be right handed and half left handed" (paraphrased).
If they so desired, the society could produce a PhD each month who believes the Earth is flat.
Whoop-dee-f'ing-doo.
so we all know that the old revelation book is "old light" and the gb would like to sweep it under the rug.
however, since they have been reinterpreting many of the parables from the gospels, many jws are confused as to how it all fits in with the book of revelation.
plus, they have been emphasizing the nearness of the end and the gt.
A new book on Revelation: no.
A new, 8-hour video miniseries released on JW Broadcasting: yes!
